More midwives graduate in Puntland

AnotherA group of 20 community midwives graduated from Haji Abdi Midwifery School in Garowe, Puntland on 8 March 2017 as the world commemorated the International Women’s Day. The midwives completed a two-year long education programme to qualify them as community midwives with the aim to deploy them to rural areas to improve maternal health services in the country. MSF returns to Somalia after 3 years

The Minister of Health, Dr. Abdinasir Osman Cuuke said there was a lot of effort put into bringing MSF back into Somalia as the non-profit organization pulled out of the country few years ago. Puntland first lady fundraises for fistula campaign

first ladyThe first lady of the Puntland State of Somalia, Dr. Hodan Said Isse on August 11 2016, hosted a social awareness and fundraising event at the Puntland State University in support of the fistula repair campaign slated for August 20 to August 25, 2016 at Garowe General Hospital.
The campaign was carried out by an international medical humanitarian organisation, Physicians Across Continents (PAC), and supported by the Ministry of Health in Puntland in collaboration with UNFPA Somalia. Continue reading
