HUMAN RESOURCE

  • The total health work force in Puntland is 2438; 773 are in the government payroll; the bulk of staff is supported by agencies (UN and INGOs

  • Ad-hoc training (short course) in BEMOC, EPI, nutrition, Malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS, disease surveillance was done for 672 health worker

  •  Job descriptions for MOH staff at regional and district and to be piloted in Karkar region as part of Human resource management tools

  • Curriculum development for medical laboratory technicians has been done

  • Training of 25 community midwives is on going at Bosaso College of Health science (5 of them from south central Somalia)

  • Human resource development section established and HR officer recruited

HIV/AIDS AND MALARIA

  • Distribution of malaria supply case management ACT and RDT in all HF.

  • Distribution severe malaria cases treatment in 5 Hospitals.
